Just to get on a soapbox....we should expect more polar vortexes!!! Explained in a single sentence: As the climate warms, the temperature difference between the poles and the equator is less and this allows polar air circulation to more easily dip into southern latitudes. Explained like an analogy: Think of a flowing river. Water in the channel flows faster than near the banks. When water is flowing fast in the channel, it's hard to get out of that current. As water slows down in the channel, it's easier to get out of/and into that current. An actual climate scientist may call that B.S., but that's how I think of it.
